THOUGHTS

This will be my last challenge for a while. I am leaving for Michigan for 17 days on Sunday. I won't have my computer with me so there will be no posting unless I use my daughters and post vacation pictures, I may do that. Today I am doing the Paper Players challenge #3 and also Curtain Call color challenge 35. I love the layout and the colors for this card, hope you do too.

I started with a Garden Green card and layered it with Green Galore that I ran through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder. My Whisper White layer I ran through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder, but first I stamped it with the verse and a couple of vines in the upper corners. The next layer of Tempting Turquiose I also ran through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder( I really love these folders). Then I stamped two large and two small flowers from the Vintage Vogue Stamp Set onto Cameo Coral cardstock with Cameo Coral Ink and cut them out. I put a clear rhinestone brad in each and mounted them with mini glue dots. I cut the leaves from Green Galore with the 2-step Bird Punch. I cut two more small flowers and put a rhinestone in the center from the Egg-cellent Eggs Kit(retired) and mounted them with mini glue dots. I also stamped a sentiment on the right bottom corner of the Green Galore. You can't see it well here but in person it shows up fine.

Until next time,

Thanks for stoppin in!

PANSIES

I was surfing the blogs I check everyday and forgot I wanted to enter in the challenge this week with Mojo Monday and today is the deadline. So I quickly found a card that I had made in a class with Laurie Gibson and tweaked it some to fit the challenge. I just love these pansies and they look so real.

I used Crushed Curry for the main card and layered it with Perfect Plum. The beautiful background is a window sheet run through the Big Shot with the Petals of Plenty Embossing Folder. I love how the color underneath shows through. It is so striking in real life. I made the pansies with the Butterfly Punch and colored them with markers and then used my aqua painter to blend the colors. Also used the Wide Oval and Scallop Oval Punches for the sentiment. The ribbon is Crushed Curry Polka Dot. Hope you like this as much as I do.

FLOWER FANCY

Good Sunday morning to all! It is another beautiful day in Southern California. Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there. Make it a wonderful day with family if possible. Dad's don't get enough opportunities to do that.

I decided it was time to create a anything card and I ran across a card I had done in Laurie Gibsons card class and decided to case it. I tweaked alittle by sponging around the edges and used a different stamp set, but it is pretty much the same as hers otherwise.

I used Rich Razzleberry for the main card and layered it with Melon Mambo and the Pink Pirouette. The flowers are stamped in Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo. I used the Scallop Corner Trim Punch and the small heart punch to do the fancy trim and put Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon behind the trim. It's a card to brighten any day or event.

Happy Birthday

We got back from 2 1/2 hours at the neurologist this afternoon and I needed to be in my room. The stimulator is now activated and working well. We still have a little fine tuning to do yet and they said it may take a couple more sessions and we are fine with that. At least we now know the final results will be what he hoped for. I have to say for a man, he has been very patient through all this process and I am very proud of him. He has had a great attitude and not one word of complaint against anyone or anything in the past 6 weeks of doctors, hospitals and pain. I must have married a saint(lol).

I have been inspired again by Always Playing With Paper, this is color challenge #1. Again I probably would not have used these colors on my own but I am so pleased with my project once it is done, that I don't understand why I never used these colors before. Hope you like it as well as I do.

Color challenge was for Brilliant or Pacific Point Blue, Old Olive, Bashful Blue and Whisper White.

I stamped the sentiment from the Well Scripted stamp set in Brilliant Blue and the vines from Elements of Style in Old Olive ink.

Accessories are: 1/2 inch circle punch, Ex-large Flower Punch, Finial Press, Polka Dot and Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folders with the Big Shot, White brads from the 5 1/16 Neutral brads, 1 pink brad from the soft subtle brads, mini glue dots and dimensionals.
After I took the picture I decided to sponge around the white card with Bashful Blue and Old Olive. Awesome looking! I'll take another picture and add it later.

DIGITAL

I love My Digital Studio but I really need to get more experienced and I will. I plan to do the webinars this week and get certified. I know I will use it a lot when I do.
I did this card for the Just Us Girls Challenge to make a digital something. I knew I had this picture on my computer and thought it would make a beautiful Christmas card this year. Am I right or not!!

I have two versions of the card here. This one I punched Bravo Burgundy cardstock with the Scallop Border Punch to make a frame around the picture. Then punched a scallop and a plain oval to put the sentiment in. The next one I printed the sentiment on the card in My Digital Studio and did not put any emblishments on it.

What do you think? Leave me a comment and tell me which one I should use for my cards this year. I value all your opinions.

SHADOW BOX

I decided to try another Shadow Box card. I learned how to make these in Laurie Gibsons card class and hadn't been brave enough to try one on my own until now. I think it turned out rather nice. Gor-ge-ous! I got the color inspiration from Curtain Call Act 34. At first I didn't know about that Dusty Durango, however I've decided I rather like that different look in there. Thanks Stacey I would never have put these colors together without you.

I started with a Whisper White 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 card. I then layered it with Sahara Sand 5x5 that I ran through the Big Shot with the new Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. The Dusty Durango is 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 and then layered with Whisper White 2 x 3 1/2. The sentiment and flowers are from the new stamp set, Elements of Style and are stamped in Basic Gray. Then I found some dsp that was Sahara Sand with little white leaves and flowers and it looks almost silvery in person. I thought Wow! I would really like that on the top, but it was too filmsy to stand up like it should. So, I got out my anywhere glue stick and put it on a piece of Whisper White 5 x 5 1/4 and glued it to my dsp to make it stronger. Worked like a charm! I then ran that through the Big Shot with the Clear Circle Die, scored each side at 1/4 and 1/2, used the Scallop Trim Border Punch on the top and bottom and Wal-la, I have a shadow box. I then made two roses with the Big Shot, the Floral Fusion Sizzlet and Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I put them together with glue dots and put a pearl in the center of each and cut a leaf with the 2-step Bird Punch out of Basic Gray and it's finished. I really love it, hope you do too.

TOO KIND

This is my first 411 challenge card SSC155. I haven't created a kindness card in a while and I have some really kind friends that I need to send one to, so this is perfect. I just love creating and using the Big Shot and all it's accessories. I don't know how I ever got along without one before. Wouldn't want to have to now!

I used the Big Shot and the Scallop circle #2 die and got my circle for the sentiment out of Whisper White. I stamped it in Melon Mambo and sponged the edge. Then I stamped the 2-step large flower from the Flower Fancy stamp set onto Whisper White and cut it out. I also stamped the large 2-step leaves in Old Olive and cut them out. My card is Crumb Cake layered with Baja Breeze punched with the Eyelet Border Punch. I then put on a strip of Melon Mambo and adhered a strip of White Organza Ribbon to it. I put my sentiment and flower on with dimensionals and the leaves with mini glue dots. Pretty simple but nice.

JUST BECAUSE

It has been another beautiful Sunday even though it's cooler than normal here right now. We were taken to the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in Mira Mesa for a Champaign Brunch this morning for Father's Day. Our son will be out of town next week-end and he wanted to take his Dad out for Father's Day so we did it early. Oh so good food! We certainly appreciated and enjoyed it.

The following card was inspired by a color challenge at Create with Connie and Mary this week. I would never have chosen these colors on my own. I usually use more subdued colors, I never used many Bright Bolds. So this was a real challenge for me, but I really like my card and am sure I will be using more of the Bright colors this year. Thanks so much 'girls'.

I started with a Brillant Blue card and layered it with Green Galore. I then cut a piece of Summer Sun and punched it with the Scallop Border Trim Punch. Then I tied a strip of Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Ribbon around the two layers. Next I took my Bermuda Bay layer and ran it through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. I couldn't decide on what I wanted for a focal point on that and then remembered I had the Daisies #2 Bixz Die that I had not used yet. Oh My! I love it in Summer Sun. It is so fibrant in person. I then put a Rhinestone Brad from the Fire Circle group in the center. I just love it.........it is so gor-ge-ous!!!

Father's Day

I have been working on Father's Day cards for my sons, grandsons and in-law grandsons, so here is another one I created today. I didn't use a challenge this time, I really did this one on my own. I loved these colors that I worked with earlier and I feel they are just excellent for a man card. The Kraft in this one even looks kind of "tweedy". This is for my son Bill who loves to golf but doesn't get much time for it. I did this for a challenge on The Shabby Tea Room that was just to do a man card for Father's Day.

The main card is Chocolate Chip 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Next layer is Kraft (soon to be Crumb Cake) 4 x 5 1/4 and run through the crimper. It is layered with Chocolate Chip Textured cardstock 2 x 5 1/2 and punched on both ends with the 1/8 inch hand held punch and adorned with vanilla brads from the 5/16 Neutral Brads collection. I adhered this with dimensionals. Next layer is Kraft 3 1/4 x 4 and topped with Very Vanilla 3 x 3 3/4. I stamped that with the golfer image and sentiment from the stamp set And Many More in Chocolate Chip Ink. I put a strip of Chocolate Chip 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon around those layers and then adhered it to the card with dimensionals. I stamped the fathers day sentiment on Very Vanilla 1/2 x 1 3/4 and put it on a piece of Chocolate Chip 3/4 x 2 1/4. I just love the way it turned out and it looks so masculine. I know my son will love it. I really do hope all fathers have a "par-fect" day with their children. Life is so short you must savor every moment you can with family.

BEST YET

This card was inspired by the Mojo Monday challenge. I don't understand why I haven't used more Bordering Blue cardstock. It is beautiful on a card especially with some embossing on it. I really love the way this card came out and hope you do to.

I used Naturals White for the main card 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I then layered it with a piece of Certainly Celery 41/8 x 5 3/8. I cut my piece of Chocolate Chip 4 1/8 x 5 1/4 then scalloped the bottom with the Scallop Border Punch. The Dusty Durango is 3 1/2 x 5, and the Bordering Blue is 3 3/8 x 4 7/8 and run through the Big Shot with the Finial Press Embossing Folder(I love it and you will too). Next I cut another piece of Naturals White 2 3/4 x 2/3/4 and layered it with a piece of So Saffron 2 1/2 x 2 1/2, stamped with a sentiment from the stamp set Best Yet and run through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder ( I love this one too, so will you). I then cut 3 flowers with the Ex-large Flower Punch from Dusty Durango. I ran them through my crimper several times to break up the fibers so I could separate them into 6 flowers total. I then crunched them up in my hand, smoothed them back out, punched a hole in the center of each with my hole punch and mat set and put a brad in the center to hold them all together. It makes a beautiful flower as you can see ( I love these too). Guess I love a lot of things. I finished it off with 2 strips of Chocolate Chip 5/8 inch Satin Ribbon ( I love this too) WOW!

ELEMENTS

Good Saturday morning to those on the West coast and afternoon to all others. I was inspired by Clean and Simple for this beautiful card. I just love the Elements of Style stamp set and you will probably get tired of seeing all the cards I do with it, but "oh well", that's the breaks.

I chose Chocolate Chip for the main card. I layered it with a piece of Kraft card stock 5 1/4 x 4. Next layer is Chocolate Chip 4 1/2 x 3 1/4, I layered it with Whisper White 4 1/4 x 3 and stamped it with the flower image from Elements of Style. The banner is 1 x 4 1/4 stamped with the sentiment from the same stamp set. I clipped the corners with my paper cutters and adhered a Chocolate Chip button to each end with a dimensional. Can't get much simpler but it is still elegant. I love these colors together so you may see more of them too.

Hope you are having a great week-end.

HAPPINESS ALWAYS

I was inspired by another challenge today and so I made this beautiful card for the challenge at Lord Have Mercy. I really liked this one and it was very easy to do.

I started with Gable Green for the main card, layered it with Whisper White and layered that with some Bashful Blue DSP. Next I layered three pieces of Pixie Pink and stamped the bottom with a sentiment from Whimsical Words in Bashful Blue. I then cut a scallop circle from Gable Green with the Scallop Circle Punch. Next I cut the flower pieces with the Big Shot and the Floral Fusion Sizzlet from Bashful Blue card stock. I put a Bashful Blue brad from the Soft Subtles brads in the middle. The bow is made with Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon and attached with a dimensional.

Cute and quick to make. Hope you like it. The color challenge was from the Diva Coffee Break Design Team. So much fun and I am learning a lot about colors.

PERFECT PAIR

Off to another challenge this morning. I actually made the card last night but was to tired to post it, thus here goes this morning. The card was inspired by the challenge on The Sweet Stop. I love these challenges. Hope I can keep up with all of them every week. It's so much fun.

I also incorporated another color challenge as well, with Curtain Call. It helps to have colors picked for you sometimes. I made the main card Certainly Celery, then layered it with Bashful Blue. Next layer is Whisper White punched with the Scallop Border Punch. (I love our new punch design) Next layer is Night of Navy punched with the Scallop Border Trim Punch. That is layered with a piece of Night of Navy dsp from the Pattern Pack lll. I did my ovals with the Coluzzle (retired) and stamped the white with the Elements of Style stamp set. (you need this) The bow is Night of Navy 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon. Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy ink. I adhered my ovals with dimensionals. How cool is that! Til' next time...........

FILIGREE FLOWERS

I love these Filigree flower shaped brads. They dress up a card so nicely. The inspiration for this card came from Taylored Expressions Challenge for this week. I am just making it under the wire. It's due at 8am and it's just after midnight.

The colors I used were Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Whisper White dotted with Soft Suede and a stamp from Itty, Bitty, Backgrounds. This is a color challenge from Pals Paper Arts for this week. I used the Coluzzle (retired) for the circles, Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Ribbon, Filigree Brads, the 1 inch circle punch , the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder and the stamp sets Dear Friends and Vintage Labels. Very cute but on the simple side. I love it, hope you do to.

SECOND POST

I don't usually post twice in one day, however, there were two challenges that are due today or early tomorrow so here I am at it again.
I am killing two birds with one stone so to speak, by doing two challenges to one card. First is a color challenge with Kristi, and the second is the card sketch by jugs36. You can check these out at by clicking on each one.

I love the colors together. I will really miss Pale Plum. I started with a base card of Chocolate Chip and layered it with a piece of "Enchante' " dsp (retired) then layered with Old Olive punched with the Scallop Border Trim Punch. Next layer is Pale Plum layered with Whisper White stamped in Pale Plum and Old Olive with the branch and sentiment from Vintage Vogue. (I love that set) I then took three pieces of White 3/8 inch Taffeta Ribbon and colored them with my markers to match my card stock and put them on the card with Old Olive brads from the Earth Elements collection. (retiring soon) That completes these challenges. It is so much fun to do these you really need to get creative and get involved.

Thanks for stoppin again!

NEW THINGS

Here I am with another challenge entry. This card was inspired by the Sweet Sunday challenge for this week. I sure enjoy these challenges, they really are increasing my creativity. I suggest everyone get in at least one but you would probably enjoy even more. I know I do.

For this card I used Chocolate Chip for the main card. The first layer is a 3 x4 piece of Pretty in Pink run through the Big Shot (you really need this) with the new texture impressions folder called Vintage Wallpaper. It is gorgeous in person. The next layer is a 2 1/2 x 4 3/4 piece of Soft Suede run through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot textured impressions folder. Then I layered a piece of Whisper White 2 x 3 1/2. Next I stamped a piece of Pretty in Pink 1 7/16 x 1 7/8 with the friends sentiment from Vintage Vogue and on a piece 1 7/8 x 1 7/8 I stamped a quote from the New set Occasional Quotes ( your going to want this). I put my piece of Chocolate Chip 5/8 inch ribbon around the soft suede and pink before putting on the card with dimensionals. I stamped the two flowers from Vintage Vogue on Whisper White with Melon Mambo and cut them out. I used Melon Mambo ink for everything to give it some contrast. I then punched a hole in the center of the flowers with the 1/16 inch hand held hole punch (non SU) and inserted a 1/4 inch brad from the Sending Love Chocolate Chip collection (former mini catalog). I adhered them to the card with a dimensional.

I love how it came out and hope you do to. I want everyone to get inspired to create.

JOYOUS OCCASION

What a happy day! Yesterday we were blessed with out first great-great grandchild, a beautiful baby girl. She weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. and is 20 1/2 inches long. I can't wait to get my hands on her. Her Mom will never get her back. She came a week late and we were really getting inpatient. However, now she's here and all is well.

I wanted to do the challenge on Techno Stamper and of course I need a card for the new baby so here is my entry.

I used Pretty in Pink card stock for the main card. Then layered it with Whisper White, then Pink Pirouette, then 2 pieces of DSP from the Patterns Pack ll mounted on Whisper White. The dress pattern I got from a photo that was given to me by Laurie Gibson. I cut it out and made a template of it. The paper for it is also from the Patterns Pack ll. The ribbon is 1/4 inch Pretty in Pink Grosgrain and the sentiment and verse inside is from the New level three hostess set called Occasional Quotes. I also used the Paper Piercing Tool and mat, mini glue dot and stampin dimensionals.

Here is a look at the inside;

I'm thanking God that all went well with the birth of our little angel and that her Mom is doing fine as well. I know she and Dad our very proud to have her.

Matching Card

I decided I wanted a card to go along with my box I made yesterday and I am also participating in the current challenge with ConnieandMary so here is my contribution. I really like these colors together.

Main card is Pink Pirouette and layered with a retired dsp(can't remember which one) then layered with Regal Rose dsp and Regal Rose card stock. Ribbon used is Pretty in Pink 1/4 inch Grosgrain. I used the Scallop Oval Punch and Small Oval Punch for sentiment. Brads are from the retired Sending Love Epoxy Brads Pretty in Pink. I made the flower with the ex-large flower punch but only did 4 layers instead of 6. I also used dimensionals and mini glue dots.

Hope you like it as much as I do. It matches my box pretty well.

It was another exhausting day at the doctors so this is it for now.

Busy Day

Good afternoon, in California any way. I really didn't have much time for creating today and I needed a box for a birthday present, so decided to make that and put it on here today. My granddaughter will be 31 on June 14 and we are having a party for her. I made the present inside as well and I hope she will like it all.

I used Textured 12x12 card stock for the box. It looks so nice and is just a little heavier feeling because of the texture. I used Pink Pirouette for the bottom and Regal Rose for the top. I then put 5/8 inch Basic Gray Satin Ribbon around and glued it together on the bottom. The finish part is the 3 paper roses made with the Extra Large Flower Punch and adhered with mini glue dots. ( I love these roses)
I stood it on end so you could get a better view of the flowers. It was so easy to make and it makes a very attractive box for any kind of present.Tomorrow we go to the Plastic Surgeon to find out what they want to do to my husband for the Melanoma he has on his cheek. They scraped the top off for the biopsy and now they are saying they need to cut the rest out and take out the lympth node in his neck on that side. He is not very happy and neither am I. Please pray for us tomorrow.

ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY

As I was doing my daily blog searching this morning, I ran across a new challenge on Creations by Corie. It's call Paper Players Challenge Week #1. I decided I would like to play so here is my creation. We have to create a card for a man. My father is no longer alive but I have 3 sons and a son -in-law that I feel deserve Father's Day cards from other than just their children. They are all great fathers and should be recognized for it. So this is my 4th Father's Day card that I have created this month.

I used Close to Cocoa for the bass card. I layered that with Very Vanilla run through my crimper (non SU), then layered with Really Rust stamped with a sentiment from "And Many Mower" and accented that with a Raised Dot Designer Holder from the Very Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware kit. Then I put another layer of Close to Cocoa run through my crimper and embellished it with a piece of Dusty Durango Polka Dot Ribbon, turned over. Next layer is Close to Cocoa layered with Apricot Appeal, stamped with the Wolf from the Natures Silhouette Stamp Set. I clipped the corners of the Apricot Appeal with my 1/2 Circle Punch for a little different look.

Hope you are having a great Sunday.

Life will be much different for him now. No more spilling coffee or losing food from his fork, and no more embarrassing moments for him. I thank God for what doctors can now accomplish because of the knowledge he has given them.

We got home about 4p.m. today and I had stayed up last night late to get my cards created so I could share some today. I will put 2 on tonight and the other 2 tomorrow. This layout came from Mojo Monday.

FUN DAY

This has been a fun day creating. I am wanting to use up the paper that is being retired, so I am working very hard to do that.

We see so many Father's Day cards that are geared to grown-ups only. I thought it was time to do one that looked like it is coming from a young son instead. Thence, the old deer and the young deer wishing Dad a Happy Father's Day.

I used Ballet Blue for the card and layered it with YoYo Yellow. Then put on 2 more layers of each punched with the Border Trim Punch. I followed this with a layer of Only Orange, stamped with the images from, Forest Friends, And Many More and Natures Silhilouettes. I used Soft Suede Ink for the images.
I think any father would be happy to receive this from a young child.

This one I made the main card from Pixie Pink. Then I layered it with Brilliant Blue. I next put a layer of Gable Green and stamped the Friends sign from Vintage Vogue in Brilliant Blue ink. I then took a piece of Pixie Pink, cut an oval with the Coluzzle (retired) then ran it through the Big Shot with the Finial Press Embossing Folder. The Brilliant Blue hearts were punched with the Small Heart Punch to finish it off. I also stamped the image from the Vintage Vogue Set across the top in Gable Green ink.

I have been going over my papers with card styles and I am amazed at what I can do with no cards to copy. Just the image and I select the colors, and embellishments. If I can do it, anyone can do it! Believe me, I'm not a pro,(lol) as if you could not tell. This sketch was a TSSC122 challenge.

Anyway, stamping is fun and that's why I do it.

ELEMENTS OF STYLE AGAIN

You can tell I just got this set and it is one of my favorites. It is just so elegant looking in any color and for any occasion.

I stamped and cut out the three flowers from More Mustard and put the Filagree Brads in the center. The sentiment is a non SU stamp.

Card Recipe:

Stamp Set: Elements of Style, Non SU Sentiment

Card stock: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum ( to retire soon), Whisper White, More Mustard

Ink: Perfect Plum

Accessories: Big Shot with Polka Dot Impressions Folder, Filagree Brads, 5/8 inch Organza Ribbon.

This card is pretty self explantory.

Stamp Set: Kind and Caring Thoughts

Card stock: Mellow Moss, Really Rust and Barely Banana ( all retiring soon)

Ink: Dusty Durango ( also retiring)

Accessories: Dusty Durango Polka Dot Ribbon, Coluzzle (retired)
