Elements of Style

Good Morning. We had a good rain during the night but the sun is going to shine some today. We still have some puffy clouds and may get some showers yet but I think the hard rain is over. We really needed it. My Narcissus are blooming so beautiful and my roses don't seem to want to take a rest. It is a much nicer scene here than the white stuff in the East. I certainly do not miss that.

This is one of the cards we did in my January card class. It is called the window technique. Most of my class loved it even though it was difficult for them to get the pieces straight. We had a great time and we are all looking forward to next month's class. One of the ladies ask me on Saturday if it was time for class yet. She whined a little when I said 3 weeks to go.

I started with a Whisper White card 4 1/4" by 11". Next layer is Marina Mist DSP ( I love this color) 4" x 5 1/4". I ran this through the Big Shot with the new Framed Tulips Embossing Folder. The Whisper White layer is 3 3/8" x 4 3/4" and put through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. Attach the DSP to the card.

I then cut a piece of More Mustard 3 1/8" x 3 5/8" . I stamped the flower image on Whisper White 2 7/8" x 3 1/8" with Jet Black Stazon ink. Cut a piece of the Adhesive Sheet the same size and put on the back of your image. Color with Marina Mist, So Saffron and Wild Wasabi Markers. Cut your image into 6 pieces and adhere to the More Mustard in a window style. Cut a medium window sheet same size as the More Mustard and attach with 2 Gold Brads. Attach the More Mustard to the larger Whisper White toward the top and tie a piece of 1/4" Marina Mist Grossgrain Ribbon around it in a bow. Attach your window piece to the Marina Mist layer. It is beautiful in real life.

Hope everyone is having a terrific Monday.

Thanks for stoppin' in and I hope to see you again real soon.

Hugs,

June

Gift Card Holder

I think this is the neatest gift card holder yet! I cased it from Laurie Gibson's card class last year. You use just one piece of DSP for the card itself and cut 2 tags with the Two Tag Die and the Big Shot. I then embellished it with a couple of circles and the cup cake stamp from the Sock Monkey Stamp Set. Birthday Wishes from Occasional Quotes is stamped on Whisper White and punched out with the Modern Label punch and mounted on a Decorative Label. Real simple to make but such a nice gift to give. The gift card fits on one tag and you write your sentiment on the other. It can be used for any season or occasion.

I am working on my project for the next Ustamp With Dawn and Friends event. I hope you got in on the Early Bird pricing. The 40 projects with matching cards and envelopes will be fantastic I know. Their are some great designers with a lot of talent participating in this event.

Must get busy. Thanks for stoppin in and hope to see you again real soon. I will have cards from my January card class to post for the next few days. Must get pictures taken. Til next time...........

Hugs,
June

Studio Sketches

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, just been really busy. Card class is Saturday and I have been designing cards for that. I also have been nursing a bad knee and not walking very well, only feel good when I take my medicine. Of course that doesn't help me create very well.

This is another of the cards we did at the December card class and I also did it for a swap with Ustamp With Dawn and Friends. I am also working on my project for their new event coming up in February.

Card recipe:

Stamp Set: Studio Sketches and Thank You Kindly

Cardstock: Pear Pizazz and Soft Suede and In color DSP

Ink: Soft Suede

Accessories: Stampin' Dimensionals

I didn't think I wanted this set until I saw several cards made with it and then I was hooked. I just love the clean look of each of the stamps in the set. Reminds me of Italy and other far away places I would like to visit.

Thanks for stoppin in and I hope to see you again real soon. Must get back to work. Please feel free to use any of my creations to help you create your own. That's my goal - to inspire others to use their talent.

Hugs
June

Ustamp With Dawn and Friends

I am so excited!! I have been chosen again as a Guest Designer for Ustamp With Dawn and Friends Oh My Word 2011 event. This is such an honor. I can't express my feelings to be chosen to be part of this tremendously wonderful talented group of designers. Dawn I just can't thank you enough! Everyone in this group is so supportive and generous.

If you have not taken advantage of doing an event with Dawn and Friends you really should think about doing this one. You won't be sorry. You recieve 40 projects with tutorials plus a matching card and envelope. That makes 80 projects all together. If you act quickly you can get in on the Early Bird Pricing and save $5. This time all Stampin' Up colors are used and no sets are duplicated. This really gives you color co-ordinating ideas as well. See how much you get for your buck!! It is just amazing and there is so much talent in this group. You will be amazed.

As soon as my project for the last event is posted for current members I will reveal it to you on my blog. I think you will agree that you can get a lot of new ideas for projects from these events. Some I would never have thought of doing.

So get busy and get over to Ustamp with Dawn and Friends.com and register for the next wonderful event the first of 2011. Once you do I know you will want to continue with the next and the next and so on.

Thanks for stoppin and I'll see you again soon. Have a blessed day.

Hugs,
June

Plant Hope

Good morning from sunny Southern California once again. It has finally quit raining again and we are suppose to see sunshine for the next 9 days. At least that's what they say now. Who knows when this might change. Only the weatherman can get things wrong and get away with it. (lol)

I have been having some problems with a painful knee so I haven't been very faithful in making cards or posting. Hopefully things will get better in the days ahead. I have workshops coming up and i really want to be able to do them and be jolly and have fun. Right now I am having a problem even walking and don't feel very jolly or like having fun.

Here is another of my December card class cards. This one I was especially interested in because of my Dad. He had a gardening book when I was small and it had short poems at the beginning of each chapter. The verse in this stamp set was one of the verses in his book that I memorized when I was 5 yrs old. It really brought back some good memories. I think this will be one of my favorite sets.

Here's the card recipe.

Stamp set: Plant Hope

Cardstock: Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla

Ink: Always Artichoke

Accessories: Always Artichoke Seam Binding, Stampin' Dimensionals

Very simple card to make but it is so clean and nice looking. This stamp is even the one that is pictured for this chapter in my Dad's book. It is so good to have good memories of your childhood and I have been blessed with many even though I lost my Dad to a heart attack when I was only eight. He left me with a lot of good memories about him.

Thanks for stoppin in and hope to see you again soon. Hope you have a blessed day and a very properous New Year.

Hugs,
June
