Something to Celebrate

Finally got on here to make a post. Earlier it wouldn't let me put my picture in. Go figure! Somedays blogging isn't easy.

Have talked with my daughter several times now and she seems to be doing o.k. Plans at this time are for her to come out here in March for her nieces wedding at Disneyland. I can hardly wait.

Yesterday was the official start of Sale-a-bration. Hope you get a chance to get in on this amazing time. For every $50 order you get a free item and for a workshop of $150 you get a beautiful free tote bag. If your total workshop is over $400 you get a bundle that includes the items on pages 6,7 of the Sale-a-bration catalog. Plus all the other hostess benefits. Wow! What a fun time to place an order or have a party. Let me know if you would like your party in February or March. We have until March 31 only.

This is another January card class card. We had to do one Valentine card at least.

Perfectly Penned

Sorry I haven't posted for a while but my son-in-law got very ill and passed away on Sunday. He fought a hard and long battle with cancer and now is finally at rest and we have some peace and comfort in the fact that he no longer is suffering. Please keep our whole family but especially my daughter and her son in your thoughts and prayers. It is a difficult time but we will all get through it with God's love and grace.

This is an appropriate card to put in today to say Thank You to all that have contacted members of the family with your love and prayers. We so appreciate all of you. The best thing you could do for any of us is to be with your loved ones as much as possible and pray for those in need. I ask you all to put in a special prayer for Laurie's son Dan's friend Jordan who has cancer and is only in his twenties. He is haveing a difficult treatment today and needs all the help he can get from the Lord. Thanks again and may God Bless everyone of you!

Uncharted Territory

By the Sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea. You and me, you and me oh how happy we'll be!!! Remember that song, every time I do a card with a boat or lighthouse I think of that song. It is very true, I am happy by the sea even though I am about 15 miles inland from it. I love going down to Shelter Island (in the bay) and watch the boats come and go and have a great lunch at the Red Sail In. What a way to spend the day!!

Now to get on with the job at hand. Here is the next card from January's class. Pretty simple to do but it will make a nice birthday card for one of my sons or brothers. I also have a very good friend who lives on a lake in Michigan and she collects lighthouses, so I am sure she would appreciate this card also.

Card Recipe:

Stamp sets: Uncharted Territory and God's Blessing

Card Stock: Whisper White 4 1/4 x 11, 3 x 4 and a scrap; Marina Mist 4 x 5 1/4; Basic Gray 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 and a scrap;

Ink: Basic Gray

Accessories: Real Red, Marina Mist and Basic Gray Markers; 1/16 hole punch; Modern Label and the Word Punch; Silver brads and dimensionals

Thanks for stoppin' in and I'll see you tomorrow.

Elementary Elegance

Sorry I didn't get time to post yesterday. Had a small card class of 2 who were here longer than the 9 I had on Saturday. Just too much laughing, talking and fun, I guess. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I got good news today, the biopsy on my thyroid was no cancer!!!! I go back in 6 mos for another ultra sound to see if the nodules have increased in size or not unless they bother me before that. I am so happy!!

My hubby has been feeling much better the last couple of days and is now working on a new table for my craft room. It is so good to have him back to his old self. He loves wood working so who knows what I may get!!

Here is another great card from this month's class. It's a little vintage but I am told some in class would like to do more vintage so we may do that next month. There are several who don't care for the vintage look and the ones who do say they have waited long enough, they want some now!

I used the stamp sets Elementary Elegance and Fresh Vintage both are from the Sale-a-bration catalog that goes live on the 24th of this month. You will love it!!
The card is Soft Suede 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, the Top Note is Very Vanilla sponged with Soft Suede ink. The top banner is Poppy Parade 2 x 5 1/2 punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch and layered with a piece of Everyday Enchantment DSP(also SAB) 1 1/2 x 5 1/2. The postage stamp is done in Soft Suede and Very Vanilla stamped with Poppy Parade. The little butterfly brad is from the 3/8 printed designer brads also found in the (SAB). Happy Birthday is stamped in Soft Suede and I adhered the top note with dimensionals. The ribbon is 16" of Calypso Coral 1/8" organdy found with the brads in the (SAB). Wow! You can tell I love the SAB catalog this year and I'm sure you will too.

Thanks for stoppin' in and I'll see you tomorrow.

Perfectly Penned

It is a rainy morning here today and on the cool side. Of course my daughter in Michigan would laugh at that, but to us it is cool at 50 degrees. I know they would give anything to have that for their high temp.

This is the second card from January card class. I used a retired butterfly because I just like him. There are times when retired is better than current to use.

I used Perfectly Penned, Clearly For You and Flutterby stamp sets. I stamped the Get Well in Baja Breeze ink .
The card is Tangerine Tango 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, the Baja Breeze layer is 2 1/2 x 5 1/2 punched with the Scallop Border punch. It is layered with Paisley Petals DSP 2 x 5 1/2. I then tied 16" of Baja Breeze seam binding around this layer before attaching it to the card. The butterfly is stamped in Tangerine Tango ink on Whisper White 2 1/4 x 2 1/4. I then layered that on Baja Breeze 2 1/2 x 2 1/2.
I finished the butterfly with a strip of Basic Rhinestones. That layer is put on with dimensionals.

Hope you like this card and it will inspire you to make your own or you can just copy mine if you wish.

Thanks for stoppin' in and I'll see you tomorrow.
Hugs,
June

My Friend

What was the saying about the road to 'Hell' being paved with good intentions? Well, my intention to post everyday this year was good but life gets in the way again. After 6 days in the hospital with my husbands 2 heart attacks ( one before Christmas and one right after) and the numerous doctors office visits since I am on my way to fullfilling my good intentions. Hopefully that will make everything right!! (lol)

We had a great time at card class yesterday and we saw 2 new stampers join us. Just want to welcome Shirley and her daughter Tami to our class and say they were a joy to get to know. Hope we will see them each month in the future.

This is the first card we did for January and I am showing two different versions, the first was mine and the second was Amy's. I loved her's as well and so decided to show both. She just reversed the designer series paper to give it a different look. We decided her's was for the young, and mine for the older ladies because purple is for the older set, I am told. We just had a great time, laughing, joking and of course stamping. If you live in the San Diego area and would like to join us, we meet once per month on the 2nd Saturday at 1pm at my home. We would love to have you join us!!

Stamp Set: My Friend

Ink: Wisteria Wonder

Accessories: 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Big Shot w/Simple Flower Sizzlet(retired) you could also use the Flower Burst Sizzlet instead, 3/8" White Taffeta Ribbon 6 1/2", Large Basic Pearls, and Dimensionals
